About

The Intersection Between Art and Environmentalism video explores the work of artist/photographer Sana Ahmed. The video shares Sana's personal process as an artist and her connection to nature and place. The video also showcases two of her most recent bodies of work, Tree Honouring and a collection of Tree Portraits.

Sana Ahmed

Sana Ahmed is an award-winning artist/photographer who loves to photograph trees. Sana is based in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Her work explores themes such as connection to nature, environmental issues and deep connection to place. Her work often features nature and trees.

Sana has exhibited her artwork in multiple shows across the Greater Toronto Area in Canada, including the 92nd Annual Exhibition of Photography at the University of Toronto Hart House, where she won the William J. Dowkes Award in the nature category. In 2016, Sana held her first solo show for her project Ambivalence: A series of self-portraits at the Crossroads Gallery at York University. In 2019, Sana exhibited two pieces of Tree Honouring in the Transitions Art Show at Beaux Arts Brampton, and won the 3rd Place Award. In October 2019, Sana held her second solo show for her series Tree Honouring at Beaux Arts Brampton. Following that, Tree Honouring was also displayed at the Brampton Library Chinguacousy Branch in December 2019. Tree Honouring has also been featured on The Earth Issue, an online magazine that supports environmental artists.
