Poetry & spoken word

Surrey Civic Theatres responded to the pandemic by introducing the Digital Stage at the beginning of April. As part of our Culture Days celebration we will be sharing four of our favourites. First up we present Around the Fire with Ivan Coyote and Sarah MacDougall. This video premiered on May 29, 2020, and will be available from SEPTEMBER 25 to OCTOBER 2 as part of Culture Days. Settle in for an hour of heartwarming stories and music. Writer and storyteller Ivan Coyote and singer/songwriter Sarah MacDougall will perform from their cozy recording studio in their basement in London, Ontario, where they are currently living and creating together. This dynamic northern duo, originally from the Yukon and Sweden, take turns sharing original stories and songs to bring comfort, companionship, laughs, and maybe a few tears too, as people shelter, hearts together, but safely apart.

Surrey Civic Theatres

Surrey Civic Theatres typically presents over 30 live shows a season in three venues. Once the pandemic hit the last four shows of the season had to be cancelled and a quick pivot to online presenting created the Digital Stage. VISION: Surrey Civic Theatres will provide unparalleled opportunities for diverse, transformative, performing arts experiences that inspire artistic expression, imagination and discovery. MISSION: Surrey Civic Theatres are a gathering place where artists, audience and our community connect and find inspiration.
