About

Join Pollinate Barrie in our beautiful Massie Family Garden Courtyard, for their annual Native Plant Sale! It’s a pay what you can – cash or e-transfer! All proceeds go to helping them educate, grow and support native habitats in our city. Everyone is welcome to join us in an effort to get as many native plants in the ground as we can, restoring pollinator ecology together in our community! So, come on over to pick up some plants for your garden and while you are here – make some art! On the same day, we will be hosting a fun drop-in collage workshop using pressed native plant seeds, leaves and flowers! This will take place in our Education Centre right beside the courtyard, inspired by the wide variety of gorgeous pollinator plants and flowers that are native species in our community!

This program responds to the City of Barrie’s temporary public art exhibition, "Seeds to Sow". The exhibition features six installations of site-specific artwork that will change Barrie's landscape from September 27 to November 8. The artworks draw on local ecologies, history, and stories. The act of planting a seed is a powerful symbol of hope and potential. It connects us to ongoing cycles of seasonality, an inheritance from our past and an intention for the future.

Pollinate Barrie

Pollinate Barrie is a grassroots, 100% volunteer operation trying to empower you to do effective ecosystem gardening–removing barriers to information, barriers to access, barriers to native plants and seeds, and barriers to expertise. Our small team of Volunteers and wonderful community members are trying to get as many native plants in the ground as we can to restore pollinator ecology around Barrie and area while creating space for people to learn and build community while we’re at it!
