"My current artwork moved in two directions as I began to paint my series. At first, I was fascinated with microscopic cellular cancer images and growths inside the body, but as I continued, the growths inside the body moved outside and became part of the atmosphere. I started to explore toxic gases as they travelled like cancer through the air.
I was surprised at the beauty, colour and form of cells, and the gases as I studied them.
I began to think that beauty found in awful things could perhaps draw more attention to their inherent threats. I found that beauty can be found in the ugly and the damaged. I enhanced this beauty with glitter, but discovered another threat as it does not break down in the environment, this may be my last use of this material. I used a popular art technique (pouring) and paired it with physical manipulation of the canvas. It was messy, unpredictable, and glorious.
I dedicate this series to all those affected by cancer. I'm pretty sure that's all of us.
10% of all sales will go to cancer research. "
