About

Leader is Celebrating Culture Days. We are planning a day festival to celebrate the German-Russian heritage of the community. This festival will include both seniors and youth in the community, in order to pass on skills and knowledge of life in Leader throughout the decades. Participants will learn how to make egg noodles, kuchen, butter, to sew handkerchief dolls, create art with potato stamps, as well as learn the dance of Polka and Schottische. Participants will then be involved in helping create a free community supper, followed by an evening of dancing to Polka music.

Our goal is to bring the community together, share skills and stories between youth and seniors, and give a glimpse into Leader’s heritage. The Town of Leader Recreation Department is partnering with the Great Sandhills Museum and Interpretive Centre, Leader Western Senior Citizens Home, and Leader’s Friendship Centre in order to create this event.
