Part of Winnipeg Design Festival: Join us for Beyond LEED where we'll explore the evolution of LEED and how it is not the only building certification standard. This panel will explore current and emerging sustainable building strategies that drive buildings toward regenerative design and a more sustainable future.

Speakers include:

Kathleen Tiede: Senior Sustainability Consultant at Crosier Kilgour & Partners, who will discuss the evolving focus from energy efficiency to broader climate responsiveness in building design.

Lindsay Oster: Principal Architect at Prairie Architects, who will share insights from Architecture 2030 and its implications for the built environment’s role in climate change.

Melanie Chatfield, P.Eng. is an Energy Analyst with the City of Winnipeg. With over 15 years of experience, she focuses on reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions, emphasizing the importance of benchmarking, innovation, and exploring beyond LEED with systems like WELL and Energy Star.

Rick Marshall: Senior Project Manager at Bird Construction, who will present on the integration of innovative construction practices and emerging green building standards.

This event is ideal for professionals and enthusiasts eager to delve into the latest trends and future directions in sustainable building.

This year’s Winnipeg Design Festival boldly embraces under PRESSURE: climate conscious design + build, drawing inspiration from the iconic David Bowie and Queen anthem. It aims to ignite discussions, spur action, and promote collaboration on climate-conscious design + build, envisioning the future of Winnipeg 150 years from now. The festival, running throughout September 2024, will include a series of workshops, tours, installations, and public events for all ages including opportunities to participate in the construction of a 3D map of our dream city.
