About
Most people under the age of 40 have heard of the movie Mean Girls, a 2002 blockbuster. For
the past 20 years, October 3 has been known as Mean Girls Day. We discovered this when we
googled October 3 to see if it had any historical significance, while trying to come up with a
name for the evening of talent we had pulled together for this Culture Days event. Other than
historical references to wars, Mean Girls Day was the only other reference point, a cultural
phenomenon.
No Mean Girls Here – Just Deadly Artists is a showcase of Indigenous women in our
province, our own cultural phenomenon. Our line-up includes recording artists Eekwol, Valhalla
and Auntie KD, spoken word artist Carly Bear and visual artist Tianna Delorme (who will be live-
painting on stage.)
Our MC is world-renowned entrepreneur and founder of Virtual Gurus, Bobbie Racette, a
sought-after speaker and presenter who has just returned to Canada after appearing at the
Canada Pavillion in Japan’s Expo 2025.
Elder Brenda Dubois will open the evening with a welcoming prayer.
This is going to be a beautiful night of celebration and community. For artist bios and photos,
visit our web site! Free to attend, or entry by donation, seating is limited to 150. Wheelchair
accessible venue.
