About

Corona Virus has impacted everyone, and writers are no exception. I've had two books published, their content distilled from immigrant experience - the first "Weather Permitting" a collection of stories about the unexpected challenges new immigrants face on arrival in Canada, the second "Ramya's Treasure" a novel about the struggles of a middle-aged single woman trying to settle down in an alien land.

Coming back to the pandemic, the stress of working from home (my day job provides the wherewithal for me to indulge in my passion for writing) and the isolation, not just from the world but also the literary world too, has had a dampening effect on my creativity. I am aware that some writers enjoyed this solitude and completed their literary projects faster than scheduled. Alas! It was not so for me. My novel-in-progress (tentatively titled "Praful's Errands") got bogged down, spluttering to a complete halt.

But the human mind, resilient as it is, gets used to anything - what's a microscopic virus anyway? I have managed to write a couple of poems (which I am going to read in this segment). Also, I have resumed work on my novel (Praful now is in middle school showing interests in stuff other than Algebra and Chemistry).
