About

We’re opening up our doors, our studios, and sharing the airwaves with the public. As a campus/community station we’ve always set ourselves apart from mainstream media by presenting music and ideas that can’t be heard anywhere else.

Now it’s your chance to be a part of the CKUW philosophy. We want you, the listener, to make radio with us – live on air!

Prepare a show on a topic or issue you care about. Or maybe you want to share recordings and music that are special to you: your high school jazz band performance, a focus on that local 90’s metal group you liked, or perhaps a rare demo of Neil Young no one has ever heard before. It’s up to you!

While you’re here you can take a tour of our studios, check out our record collection, record a radio spot for broadcast, and more! We’ll provide the technical support – you bring the ideas!

CKUW is the on-campus FM radio station at the University of Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada.

We broadcast at 95.9 MHz with 450 watts of power. The station operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week with all the programming being done by volunteers.

Since the early 60′s CKUW has offered students and the community a unique chance to express ideas and be introduced to music heard nowhere else in Winnipeg. CKUW programmers have an outspoken passion for music and information.

We strive to represent all genres of music with an attempt to focus on the vibrant local scene, as well as music from across Canada and around the world.
