About
Artist KC Adams invites all members of the public to participate in an experience that reveals the profound connections between people and the natural world through her interactive, participatory project "Nipiy." "Nipiy" means water.
Through electronics, participants are to sonically fill ceramic vessels similar to those from Adams' exhibition owîceskoyanakinikewakwith representations of water. Employing an experimental archaeological process, Adams has meticulously recreated vessels historically crafted from the land of this place by ancient peoples. By caressing the clay surface of these vessels, reminiscent of a pregnant belly, the connection to women as water-keepers becomes strikingly evident.
Through touch, we are invited to experience human-nature relationships and appreciate women's age-old role as stewards of the waters that nurture us all.

Organizer
Art Gallery of Regina
Located on Treaty 4 Territory, the Art Gallery of Regina (formerly The Rosemont Art Gallery) shares the artwork and experiences of artists living in Saskatchewan, allowing viewers to recognize themselves and gain powerful insights into other people's stories. Founded in the early 1970s as a community-focused satellite of a larger art gallery, the AGR continues to support historically excluded artists and artistic disciplines and create ways for people to discover the importance of art in our lives.
The AGR is a tenant in the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre.
