About
Water is one out of five dances that you can learn as part of Aether.net, a community-engaged dance project that celebrates Mother Earth’s resilience and the connection we have to one another!
Aether.net reflects on the past year of contamination, seclusion, discrimination and alienation by bringing us together despite our physical isolation, using dance, not only as a performing art but as a vector of digital expression.
At a time when we are craving social interaction, Aether.net alleviates isolation and creates a feeling of togetherness. It engages us in movements – after over a year ‘stuck’ at home, we feel motionless, our bodies are screaming for action and connection. Aether.net brings sense of belonging to a community, whose beauty and strength is in its diversity, creativity and tenacity.
Entirely digital, very simple: learn a 1-min choreography through video, record yourself and share with your friends! Spread a dance epidemic and see how it mutates!
Keep the core movements close to the original, but feel free to adapt the dance to your own abilities and artistic practices!
Only constraint: when video-recording yourself with your cellphone (landscape position), dance near something that for you represents Water (near a body of water, in your bathtub, under your lawn sprinklers...). Don't forget to share your video with us!
Detailed guidelines are available on our website (https://kinesisdance.org/project/aether-net/)
From the videos you will share with us, Kinesis Dance somatheatro will create a video-montage, that will be made available in 2022 for free online, on our website and on public screens in the public space.
Have fun! Enjoy! Stay with your core bubble!
Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns!

Kinesis Dance somatheatro is a dance company located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh people, we now call Vancouver, BC. Through community engagement, mentorship and international exchange, Terezakis build meaningful collaborations in the research and creation of multi-disciplinary works dealing with the human condition, and more recently with pollution and toxicity.
