Becoming Present - Chantal Garneau

Chantal Garneau is a meditation artist + peace activist who lives and works in Halton Hills. She specializes in meditative storytelling, where her voice and emotional attunement open and expand the hearts and minds of her audience.

Her art-making process consists of deeply connecting to the present moment and translating that process into meditative stories that take people on a journey of sensory awakening, self awareness and connection. In true bardic tradition, her stories are shaped by the people and places present. For Garneau, life itself is art and each breath an opportunity to bask in wonder and gratitude.

She hopes to activate peace through self, community and the web of life by encouraging a gentle shift from a culture that promotes independence and individuality to one that recognizes how deeply interconnected and interdependent we are. Through work with Protect Our Water and Environmental Resources she is helping to restore our local ecosystems and increase awareness and action in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, and the Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.

In response to COVID-19, Garneau took her practice online and has made it accessible to all through embracing the Maternal Gift Economy. Participants are invited to offer financial exchange but are not expected or required to do so.
