About

This video demonstration is about a remarkable species of butterfly which has adapted to its environment through a very specific strategy of survival, mimicry. Bruce Thompson has chosen as an example the swallow-tail butterfly that lives in Africa and is often seen in low flight or strung out around muddy pools. The different ‘morphs’ of the species are portrayed in a series of watercolour paintings which he does on-screen, while explaining the ecological purpose.
