About
*Note: We are holding this event Wednesday instead, due to rain in the forecast.*
Richmond Artists Guild and the plein air group Men in Hats invite you to try painting outside in the last of our three events for Culture Days! Locations have been selected to introduce you to surprisingly scenic, Unexpected Intersections spanning our community and allow a variety of subjects for everyone. Painters and spectators have plenty of space to respect a 2m/6’ social distancing margin. No instruction but plenty of inspiration, all mediums and ages welcome.
Shady Island, the shoreline, bollards, a long wharf with interesting views over Paramount shipyards and toward the Steveston waterfront one side, the brightly coloured homes along South Dyke on the other. Just a couple of blocks further East along Dyke Road London Farm offers a beautiful historic house and grounds also. Please respect each others' space and remain at a distance.
Those who’ve never tried painting outdoors may want to bring either an easel and painting/drawing materials or a chair and sketchbook or mobile device with a sketching app. Please dress appropriate for the weather, allowing that you feel cooler standing still. Consider a hat and sunscreen for sunny days, a mask if it’s smoky, paper towels or wipes for your hands, water and a snack. Please respect the spaces we’ll be visiting and leave nothing behind.
There’s no registration, check in or fee, but as with all events during COVID, please stay home if you are feeling any symptoms, have been travelling or in contact with anyone who may have been infected. We also recommend downloading Canada’s COVID Alert app to your mobile device, as this tracks contacts and potential exposure without any personally identifiable information. Download it free at https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/coronavirus-disease-covid-19/covid-alert.html
