About

Though the use of balloons, bamboo, and boards, Under the Waves attempts to bring to the surface the extraordinary sights that is sure to happen every dawn and dusk in our oceans. Under the Waves also serves as a reminder of how intertwined art and engineering is. Without engineering this would not have become real, but without imagination it would have never been imagined. The structure is crafted from simple wooden boards and bamboo rods, but the heart of Under the Waves is a central crank that all of the balloons are connected to. Before reaching the crank, the strings pass over or under one of several rods to control the strings length, resulting in a continuous wave motion as the crank completes each rotation.
