Ben Gorodetsky
Live, dramatic readings of poems written by an AI. The topic, style, and format of the poems come directly from audience members who are invited into this participatory performance. A projector shows a direct feed of ChatGPT, revealing the absurd collaboration between algorithm and human artist to spectators.
Ben Gorodetsky is a Ukrainian-Canadian performance maker, writer, and producer based in Kitchener, Ontario. They are the artistic director of Pinch. Ben’s performance work has been presented by Movement Research at Judson Church, The Tank NYC, CAFKA, AGO, Mile Zero Dance, Guelph Dance Festival, Hillside, Brian Webb Dance Company, Expanse Festival, Rubaboo Festival, Guelph Dance Festival, and SpringWorks. He's co-creator of political comedy duo Folk Lordz (VICE). Ben teaches digital video and public speaking at UWaterloo.
Pinch is a production company creating live interdisciplinary performance work, experimental documentaries/digital video, and community-centred variety shows in Kitchener, ON. Helmed by director and curator Ben Gorodetsky, Pinch is a performance laboratory and hub for creative expression focused on nourishing local artists. The monthly Pinch Cabaret was recognized by the readers of the Waterloo Chronicle as the BEST LOCAL EVENT in 2022.
