About
Bangla Rhythms is a presentation of Bangla Song & Recitation, delivered by Bangladeshi origin cultural enthusiasts and practitioners, led by Shagufa Anwar, a resident of Oakville. The whole idea of the presentation is to share a glimpse of the rich Bengali heritage and culture of Bangladesh with the Canadian audience.
The performance will showcase a blend of Bangla songs of different genres, encompassing patriotic songs, popular folk and contemporary songs, and also songs composed by legendary poets & composers Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam. Harmonium Songs performed in solo, duet, and chorus will be interspersed with recitations from Bangla Poems. All songs will be played with Harmonium, a key-board based free-reed musical instrument.
Before every item delivery, a brief English description will be shared with the audience. A pamphlet of the event's items will be shared with the present audience for better understanding.

Shagufa Anwar, a Canadian of Bangladeshi origin, a professional singer, offering lessons in Bengali songs to uphold and propagate Bengali cultural heritage in Canadian soil, nurtures the cultural wing of the Bangladesh Club in Canada. Shagufa, with her team, performs cultural soirees at different events to make the local community aware and engaged about the rich heritage of Bengali culture; to strengthen the bond between Canadian and Bangladeshi culture.
