About

Join us for Harmony in Cultures, an interactive clay workshop at the Milton Sports Centre, Meeting Room #1, Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, with artists, Shahrzad Amin, Yvette Garcia-Mier and Lauren Sinett, where we will create a beautiful collaborative ceramic installation celebrating cultural diversity and unity!

In this hands-on workshop, each participant will receive a slab of clay to trace their hand. After cutting out the hand shape, you will have the opportunity to decorate it with unique motifs, patterns, and designs that reflect your cultural heritage or personal values. You are encouraged to explore and incorporate traditional decorations, symbols, or themes that resonate with your identity, making each piece a personal expression. Various colored clays will be available to represent diverse identities, ensuring that each creation is as unique as the individual behind it. As examples of cultural reference, you can incorporate traditional motifs, patterns, symbols, or even drawings of food, animals, plants, and architectural elements that reflect your identity. This unique event brings people together through art, celebrating our shared humanity and individual stories.

Together, these unique hand-shaped pieces will be fired and glazed, then combined into a larger single hand installation — a symbol of connection and unity through art. Let's create something beautiful together!

Everyone is welcome to join us, no experience is necessary. All materials and tools are provided.

Please note: Space is limited and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative art project!
