About
As part of Culture Days, you are invited to a special private preview screening of SVEVA CAETANI: Recapitulation – A Journey, a feature-length immersive film directed and produced by Heidi Thompson. The screening takes place in the Caetani Cultural Centre Gallery on Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 7 to 8:30 PM.
The film brings to life Sveva Caetani’s extraordinary series of 56 paintings, Recapitulation, created between 1978 and 1991. Drawing inspiration from Dante’s Divine Comedy, Sveva’s journey through suffering, resilience, and transcendence unfolds in a poetic blend of images, music, and narration.
Thompson, who was Sveva’s close friend and photographer for over a decade, weaves together the art, writings, and spirit of this remarkable Italian-Canadian artist. The result is a luminous meditation on creativity, transformation, and the human search for meaning.
Admission is by donation and RSVP registration is recommended. A short intermission will take place mid-way through the film. Refreshments will be available by donation.

Organizer
Caetani Centre
The Caetani Centre is the former home of renowned artist, writer, mentor and teacher Sveva Caetani.
Sveva Caetani was a visionary figure in the North Okanagan community with a deep belief in the power of art, culture, and the pursuit of knowledge to enrich and change lives and cultivate community.
Sveva left her 1.3 acres of gardens and historic home to the community of Greater Vernon in 1994 with the express wish that it serve as a community cultural facility for artistic and critical exploration.
Now open to the public, the Caetani Centre is available for both guided and self-guided heritage tours. Visitors can learn about the fascinating royal Italian Caetani family history and story and see select displays of treasured family artifacts in the heritage home.
The mysterious and heartbreaking story behind the history of the house and its inhabitants provides a gateway to understanding our recent past, and opens a window to a much different world, shedding light on the many artworks and writings created by our benefactor Sveva Caetani.
