About

Chinese genealogy holds a number of challenges. Join our virtual speaker, Linda Yip, and learn strategies to overcome these research issues. 18+

Are you curious about Chinese Canadian genealogy but don’t know where to begin? Are you daunted by the apparent need to learn Chinese before you can even start? Are there questions from your childhood that didn’t make any sense? Have you tried one of the major family history sites like Ancestry, FamilySearch, MyHeritage, or FindMyPast and ended up more confused than ever? Are you looking for free Chinese genealogy resources?

Linda Yip has been digging into her family history since the 1990s, when it was all paper and books. Let her give you the benefit her experience to help you navigate the world of Chinese Canadian genealogy in English. Chinese Canadian genealogy is unique, compelling, heartbreaking, and incredibly rewarding. You will come away with an understanding of the framework of the history of the Chinese in Canada, and practical advice on beginning, continuing, or busting the walls of your family tree. This virtual session will include a copy of her Basic Chinese Genealogy Checklist.

Linda Yip is a professional genealogist, author, storyteller, entrepreneur and speaker based in Saskatchewan. She is a member of the Ancestry Canada Advisory Board, and her blog, Past-Presence.com, has been read by over 190,000 people in over 180 countries.
