About

Dance with the world! Meet friendly people and get a bit of exercise! This is our annual Open House.

In the company of experienced recreational dancers, learn, watch and participate in creative and energizing folk dances from cultures around the world. Beginners welcome. No partners required. Wear comfortable clothing and clean non-marking shoes for mild athletic activity. Bring your water bottle for rehydration.

Dances taught and demonstrated throughout the evening by our members will come from many countries and cultures including from Europe, the Middle East, North America and elsewhere. Most dances will be done in an open circle or line formation, or with dancers in a scatter pattern.

Organizer

Manitoba International Folk Dance Association

MIFDA (or Manitoba International Folk Dance Association) is a recreational international folk dance group that has been active in the Winnipeg area since the 1970s. We're mostly about having fun with an emphasis on participation.

International Folk Dancing involves learning and performing traditional dances from a variety of cultures from around the world. The dances range from peaceful and relaxing to energetic and aerobic. Most of our repertoire is line and circle dances from various Balkan and Middle East countries, but we also do many partner dances and mixers from Europe and North America.
