About

Continuing with the theme from summer 2021, the Town of Oakville invited a new group of artists to create temporary artwork for neighbourhood community centres responding to the theme of “Connextions”.

Public art has an important role to play in building community, promoting dialogue and enriching our cultural landscape. Supporting Oakville’s Cultural Plan, this exhibition engages the community in relevant and new public art projects, and brings art and culture to more town facilities. This exhibition showcases temporary public artworks to build community spirit and reflect on the idea of reconnecting communities. The selected works will be launched to coincide with the beginning of the fall 2022 programming season, and celebrate Culture Days (September 23 – October 16). One artwork is sited at each recreation facility on a prominent window.

Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre - Town Of Oakville

The Town of Oakville is located on Treaty 14 and 22 lands, the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat and the Haudenosaunee. Oakville is home to many different First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. A vibrant and impressive community within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), the Town of Oakville is a beautiful lakeside town with a strong heritage, preserved and celebrated by residents and visitors alike. Since the 1800s, it has become one of the most coveted areas to live and work in Ontario with 225,000 residents calling Oakville home. The town offers all the advantages of a well-serviced urban centre with first-rate facilities and amenities, while also maintaining its small-town feel.
