About
The HAPPY DAY FREE GIFT TRUCK project is a mobile gift-giving unit and temporary public art installation that will be parked Saturday afternoons between from 12-5pm for six weeks beginning October 15 to November 19 in the Rotary Commons (between the Rotary Centre for the Arts and the Kelowna Art Gallery). The primary function of the HAPPY DAY FREE GIFT TRUCK is to offer free gifts to the citizens and visitors of the city of Kelowna in an effort to radiate good energy and discourage social isolation.
These gifts may take the form of something to eat or drink, some music, a new prized possession and/or some unsolicited life advice. The HAPPY DAY FREE GIFT TRUCK invites and encourages public engagement and social interaction. The HAPPY DAY FREE GIFT TRUCK does not discriminate, welcomes all and freely gives free gifts.

Organizer
Patrick Lundeen
Patrick Lundeen is an artist born in Lethbridge, AB (traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory). He currently lives and works in Kelowna (the unceded territory of the syilx/Okanagan People) teaching drawing, painting and sculpture at UBC Okanagan and sits on the board of directors at the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art. His artistic interests span traditional visual art making mediums and extend to include sound art, music, food, performance and now public art. His approach to visual art employs humour, sensory experience and a rough and visceral aesthetic to illicit a complex response from viewers.
In addition to visual art, Patrick is also a dubiously talented musician and will release a 5th music project called “CHEAP!” on vinyl in conjunction with his solo exhibition at the Kelowna Art Gallery opening in November.
