About

In honour of National Day of Truth and Reconciliation Orange Shirt Day, the Township of Centre Wellington in partnership with Dalton Associates invites you to a free public screening of The Secret Path on Monday, September 30th, from 7-9 pm. This animated film, based on Gord Downie's poignant album and Jeff Lemire's graphic novel, tells the story of Chanie Wenjack, a young Anishinaabe boy who tragically lost his life while escaping a residential school in 1966. Through Downie's poetry and music, and Lemire's powerful illustrations, the film brings to light the painful legacy of Canada's residential school system.

Special Guest Speakers:

Leo Atlookan, Eabametoong First Nation

Dr. Robert Robson, Professor Emeritus from the Department of Indigenous Learning at Lakehead University, and member of the CW Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Committee will lead a discussion before and after the screening.

Join us for this important evening of reflection and remembrance. RSVP is encouraged. Please contact [email protected] for information.
