About
Celebrate Culture Days at the AGB – 50 Years of Art, Learning, and Community
This fall, the Art Gallery of Burlington invites you to experience Gikinoo’amaatowin – This Is All Learning, a powerful exhibition and series of programs that honour Indigenous artistry, storytelling, and intergenerational knowledge.
From September 19 to October 12, 2025, join us for hands-on workshops, inspiring conversations, and immersive experiences as part of Burlington’s Culture Days celebrations—coinciding with our 50th anniversary.
Curated by Albany Sutherland, Gikinoo’amaatowin – This Is All Learning showcases the work of acclaimed Anishinaabe artists Jean Marshall and Nicole Richmond, whose beadwork, jingle dresses, and floral designs carry teachings from the land, community, and ancestral traditions.
These Pay-What-You-Can and free events invite you to learn directly from the artists, explore the cultural significance of their practices, and connect with the themes of healing, resilience, and shared creativity.
Program Highlights:
Ojibwe Floral Designs with Nicole Richmond – Sept 19, 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Led by artist Nicole Richmond, this workshop offers a process-based approach to learning that centers creativity, reflection, and wellness. Participants will be guided through an Ojibwe floral design activity, learning to trace, layer, and compose their own visual expressions inspired by Anishinaabe Woodland art techniques. This hands-on session explores Indigenous artforms in a supportive, low-pressure environment. The workshop will also include a meditation practice, encouraging participants to consider self-care as it ties to art making and spiritual restoration.
Whether you join us in person or online, you’ll be part of an inspiring exchange of ideas, stories, and traditions that continue to shape our shared cultural future.
Celebrate with us. Learn with us. Create with us.
