Elder Dave Ogle will offer a ceremonial blessing prior to Latern Workshops and Live Painting that will begin at 10:00am after the procession a guided painted lantern Workshop with contemporary street art techniques. Will be held by Lead Artist(s)

The lanterns will be lit using battery operated candles. With respect to both stolen. lost murdered women as well as residential school children/survivors.

Ms.Bellefleur completed a Mural in 2021 Titled" Prairie Soul" with respect to both Lakota, Metis and the Theme of Reconciliation. There will be a brief ceremony to bless the space and install final plaque for mural.

Metis Artist Jayde Goodon will be offering a live painting that will provide a new and contemporary take on what his experiences are as a Metis person and for this people. Jayde works anywhere from small scale doing tattoos, to large Mural public art projects nationally.

Town of Assiniboia

The Town is excited to start this initiate towards building a pathway of a contemporary, public art project that will not only bring more joy and equity to our community, rather build stronger sense of civic pride and help foster stronger relationships with the Indigenous Community. We are excited for this Culture Days event as this kicks off our work together from now till spring/summer 2024 Mural Project.
