About
Being born and raised in Southern Ontario, Laurie now resides in the peaceful Village of Belwood with her husband Heath and son Angus. She finds peace in her natural surroundings and this influence can easily be seen in her earthy creations of sterling silver, copper, reclaimed metals and gemstones.
Being hit twice by drunk drivers brought the business executive to truly appreciate the beauty of life. Dealing with pain daily, Laurie joined a silversmithing class and the rest is history. Her new-found passion and her experiences coupled to put her on a new path in life. She started “TruForm Jewelry Design” and has left the corporate world behind.
Laurie has participated in many local events, including Elora Fergus Studio Tour, Art in the Yard (Elora), Guelph Art on the Street, ArtsFest (Waterdown), Art Around the Pond (Wellesley), Waterloo Artist Market.
Her work has been featured in such galleries as: Art Gallery of Sudbury, Cobblestone Gallery (Waterloo), Elora Centre for the Arts and Wellington Artists Gallery (Fergus).
Hoping her work will connect with others, Laurie also teaches in her home studio and showroom. She loves to see her students create and share the pride to be felt when a special piece comes to fruition.
Creating custom pieces with meaning bring her the greatest joy. This is especially true of the enamelled Poppy pieces she created for the Royal Canadian Legion, which are distributed globally to museums, Legions and the like.
Although being knocked down (twice), Laurie fully believes that everything happens for a reason and at the end of the day, every cloud has a silver lining!

Organizer
Elora Fergus Studio Tour
For nearly 40 years, a dedicated and well-structured volunteer group made up of participating artists has successfully organized this annual event. At the heart of the Elora Fergus Studio Tour is a strong spirit of community collaboration. We work closely with local businesses throughout Elora and Fergus to secure sponsorships, advertising support, brochure distribution, printing, signage production, and promotional partnerships that help strengthen both the tour and the local economy. These valued relationships, combined with outreach through social media and local media outlets, allow us to promote the tour effectively and cost-efficiently each year.
A key partner in the success of the tour is the Elora Centre for the Arts, which hosts our main gallery exhibition and serves as an important cultural hub for both artists and visitors. Together with the support of local businesses and community organizations, the Elora Fergus Studio Tour has established itself as one of Canada’s premier artist studio tours, known for its professionalism, artistic excellence, and strong community connections.
