About
Brockville is blessed to be situated on a picturesque section of the St. Lawrence River. Every day except during the winter we are witness to a river afloat with giant Lakers, kayaks, sailboats galore and local rowers. Residents soon become inured to this beauty. This self-guided tour will reconnect you to the beauty of our own Rio Vista.
The City is home to a string of riverfront parks, beginning in the east with Centeen followed by Blockhouse Island, Hardy Park and finally in the far west by St. Lawrence Park. The first three are strung along Water Street, which runs one street below King Street, Brockville's main thoroughfare. St. Lawrence Park is situated along King Street at the western edge of the City.
Allow your inner creativity to flow and enjoy a relaxing day by the river. Bring a cell phone or camera, sketch pad and pencils, or canvas and choice of paints. Try early morning for rowers from the Rowing Club or kayakers out for a paddle. Lakers sail through at all hours of the day. Kayaks and sailboats retake the waters in the early evening.
If you enjoy something more tactile wood carvers and sculptors have been known to use the river view for inspiration as well. Quite frequently to be honest.
So bring the creative tools of your choice and enjoy one of the quiet wonders of an extremely fortunate River City.
