About

Rachel Smaldon has always loved painting, specifically birds.

Since she was ten years old, nearly every year, she has painted a Blue Jay. This series shows a

clear, consistent evolution of her artwork and improvement. They represent an advance in

skill as well as different stylistic preferences she has had over the years. This series

demonstrates that everyone starts somewhere, and the key to improvement is practice and

dedication.

This exhibition is featured in the Small Gallery of the deCoste Culture Hub.
