About
REWILD THESE HANDS is an atmospheric circus show featuring live doom music, handmade costume pieces, and aerial/ground acrobatics. Visually, our cast take on elements of familiar urban animals. Using the lens of a raccoon emerging from torpor, we tell a nonverbal story of overcoming isolation and returning to familiarity.
To REWILD is to restore to a natural state. While this show arose from a return to aerial
specifically, it became about the process of returning slowly to anything loved that had been set aside for a time. It’s also about the making of sustainable creative works, and how one can evoke change by showing up to Play again, again, and again.
This show is currently in development, meaning it may change between viewings as we learn and practice what works in front of an audience! We hope to reward repeat viewings by showing visible growth.
Harmonic Shadow Circus was born in Niagara Falls during the autumn of 2016, and works with multidisciplinary artists from around the Niagara region. Sara Lou Routley is ringleader and acrobat; Stephen Tkachuk, Madi Rayn, and Jeff MacKinnon make up the ensemble.
