About

An exhibit featuring encaustic works by Greg Angus, hosted by the Oak Heights Art Gallery. This page is for the VIRTUAL opening event. For attending in-person please visit our website to register your spot: www.OakHeightsArtGallery.com/Exhibitions

About the Exhibit:

Each painting is made with wax and oil paint on wooden panel. Two different types of wax are melted down and oil paint is added to the liquid wax to create a variety of colours. Layers are built up in specific colour sequences in order to achieve the correct frequency for the base of the painting. The negative areas of the composition are removed down to the panel allowing for a second, multiple layering of colour. This second layering is different from the first and is based on the quality of energy needed within the painting. Over the course of days and weeks this delicate excavation is repeated until the painting is complete.

The Oak Heights Art Gallery is a creative space where traditional and conceptual art meet. Our roster of artists varies from emerging artists, to internationally acclaimed artists. Our mediums are eclectic in essence reflecting a dynamic community. From photography, to encaustics. From traditional tapestry weaving, to formal conceptual installation art. In this melange of colour and texture, we thrive in being an open space where different cultures, countries, state of mind, age and gender meet.

We welcome you to visit us, explore the Gallery, and stay connected through our upcoming solo exhibitions, events and music nights.
