About
This mobile installation by Eric Thrift (University of Winnipeg Anthropology Museum) explores the multisensory aesthetics of human-animal relations. Containing an assemblage of material objects collected from Mongolia, the Treasure Box evokes and interprets the tastes, smells, and textures of milk, meat, wool, dung, grass, and animals themselves. Visitors encounter a tabletop version of the "avdar", or nomadic herder's storage chest, which they are invited to open and explore together with the curator.
