About

Come get inspired by Joy with us! Create work of art inspired by artists in the 2021 Winter Festival of Art: Finding Joy exhibition.

Patricia is an artist from St. Joseph Island who works with Puddingstone, a rock unique to the area, and other natural materials to create her beautiful sculptural works. Learn a fun way to make a sun catcher inspired by Patricia's work Catching Joy!

The Winter Festival of Art is an annual exhibition held by the Art Gallery of Algoma, inviting gallery members to submit works of art inspired by different themes each year. In 2021 The Art Gallery of Algoma invited participating artists to talk about their works to inspire students grades 4-8, in the Algoma District, to create their own works of art inspired by Finding Joy.

The AGA was founded as a non-profit public art gallery and incorporated on July 7, 1975. Established by a group of dedicated volunteers and art enthusiasts, the AGA honours its roots as a community organization with its mission of celebrating culture, educating visitors, and enriching lives through the visual arts. The AGA’s vision is to be a premier visual arts institution in northern Ontario, gaining national recognition and international partnerships. With the appointment of Director Jasmina Jovanovic in August 2011, the AGA looks forward to the next phase in its evolution: establishing and implementing exciting new initiatives, becoming more involved in the national contemporary art scene, and continuing to uphold its multifaceted mandate.
