About

Go into your TAP dance!

Always wanted to try tap dancing? Now’s your chance to have some fun, get some fresh air, and make some noise outside surrounded by beautiful trees.

Join Gateway Theatre and The Rhythm Room for a free beginner tap class in the park as part of Culture Days BC. This 1-hour outdoor workshop is a fun, welcoming introduction to the basics of tap dance, led by renowned tap dancer and instructor Jennifer Bishop, who will guide you step-by-step through simple rhythms and movements. We’re offering two sessions at 2:00pm and 3:00pm in the grassy area in front of Gateway Theatre.

Inspired by the joyful spirit of musical theatre and Gateway Theatre’s upcoming dazzling production of 42ND STREET, this class is a great way to experience the energy, rhythm, and excitement of tap dance! Expect lots of laughter, a little bit of coordination, and a whole lot of fun.

Just bring your feet and a tap-happy attitude. Please wear hard-soled shoes if you have them (closed-toe recommended). In case of rain or poor weather, the class will be held inside Gateway Theatre.

All ages are welcome, and no experience is required! While the class is best suited for ages 7 and up, younger participants can join with a parent or caregiver and jump in at their own pace.

Registration is free, but space is limited.

To help us make this event accessible to as many people as possible, we kindly ask that you only reserve a ticket if you’re able to attend. If your plans change, please email [email protected] to cancel your spot so another participant can join. A small number of walk-in seats may be available on a first come first serve basis if space permits.
