WE RESTORE DIGNITY.
At African Friendship Society we believe that all Canadians deserve to experience the real story of Africa and its people without prejudice or discrimination. We bring communities together through the celebration of joy, friendship and African arts and cultures.
Our mandate is to educate while entertaining, promote mental and emotional well-being for all, social inclusion and community engagement through African arts. We help build self esteem and empowerment within the Black/African community through positive cultural identification.
The BC based African Friendship Society was formed by Cameroonian dance artist Jacky Essombe to facilitate the growth of African Arts outreach, provide cultural education in the larger community and cultivate friendships with all cultures, while building healthy and collaborative relationships with the BC Black and African communities.
We EDUCATE, EMPOWER, and ENTERTAIN.
