About

A number of students who studied at a small art college in Halifax went on to become teachers and professors at a number of Fine Art Faculties in Universities across Canada. Five artists living in the lower mainland will recall and talk about what they learned from their experience at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) and how their time there influenced their teaching pedagogy and the impact that this may have had on subsequent generations of students and artists.

Join Allyson Clay (NSCAD late-70s)(SFU) in conversation with Ingrid Koenig (NSCAD early 80s)(Emily Carr), Anne Ramsden (NSCAD mid-70s) (SFU, UQAM), Landon Mackenzie (NSCAD early-70s) (Emily Carr), and Marina Roy (NSCAD mid-90s)(UBC)

Griffin Art Projects

Griffin Art Projects is a non-profit art residency and gallery located in North Vancouver devoted to supporting artists in the production of new work through its residency program, and in creating new research on contemporary Canadian and international art, artists and art collections from around the world in its exhibition program. Griffin Art Projects is a non-collecting institution that has quickly become a vibrant contributor to the North Vancouver cultural landscape and visual art practices in the region through its exhibitions, residency and public programs. Griffin Art Projects' exhibitions and events are always free and open to all to attend. Established in 2015, Griffin Art Projects was founded by Brigitte and Henning Freybe who began collecting art in the early 1970s. Griffin Art Projects considers the methodologies, thematics and narratives that shape and direct both visual culture and creative work, and collecting practices. In addition, Griffin Art Projects supports and develops solo and group projects and thematic exhibitions of works, collaborating with established cultural producers, guest curators, artists, writers and art educators in the region, nationally and locally to also produce exhibitions, public programs and publications on contemporary art in the region. Griffin Art Projects is situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the səl̓ilwətaɁɬtəməxʷ(Tsleil-Waututh), Skwxwú7mesh-ulh Temíx̱w (Squamish), S’ólh Téméxw (Stó:lō), and šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmaɁɬ təməxʷ (Musqueam) Nations.
