**Date and Time**:

Join us on October 12, 2023, with doors opening at 6:45 pm and the performance commencing at 7:00 pm. Admission is by donation at the event or through SCHOOL OF NATURAL DANCERS’ EVENTBRITE (see below).

**The Concept**:

EXFORTIS emerges from a unique discovery within the SCHOOL OF NATURAL DANCERS. It all began during a dance practice when a dancer's shoes left unexpected, dramatic markings on the floor. This accident has become the centrepiece of our exploration, leading us away from conventional art and into the realm of non-art. Here, dance transcends itself, becoming even more ephemeral than it already is.

**Cleansing as an Act of Significance **:

EXFORTIS centers around the deliberate act of cleaning the floor. Witness the dancer's dedication as they spend hours removing these accidental marks, symbolizing/enacting gestures of obligatory cleansing, personal redemption and cosmic transformation. The room's historic presence adds an ambient dimension, enhancing the contemplative experience.

**Interactive and Transformative**:

EXFORTIS is an interactive event where you can witness transformation firsthand, even walk around the dancer as they scrub on the floor. The dancer's dedication and cleansing effort focuses presence to creates a powerfully immersive experience that promises to linger long after the performance ends.

Our unique dance school is dedicated to nurturing the natural dance artist in each of us. We believe everyone possesses a beautiful dance waiting to be expressed. Independent Dancers

Independent Dancers are motivated to produce dance independently; in solo, ensemble, collaborated and partnered contexts. They seek to push dance beyond any single category of “dance” and establish the dancer as THE artist of their own movement. Over the past year (2022-2023) Independent Dancers have orchestrated over 20 presentations of new dance. Partners have included The Gas Station Arts Centre, Crescent Arts Centre, Crescent Fort Rouge United Church, aceartinc., Prairie Circus Arts, Winnipeg Public Library, numerous independent artists and numerous independent dancers. Independent Dancers have also led numerous workshops of Instant Dance and laboratory dance presentations. Independent Dancers appeared in 2022 Culture Days: IN/OUT DANCE SERIES I, Dance for Lunch @ Millennium Library Park. Independent Dancers is minded by iansmoznewdance.blogspot.com, the repository for the new dance of iansmoz, a creative artist whose presence has been of-demand for decades and is a prolific producer of performance experiences. Independent dancers orchestrate the SCHOOL OF NATURAL DANCERS (Sept 2023 begun, Oct 2023 in Culture Days) and NEW DANCE MONTHLY.
