About

In this virtual performance, Dr. Kanika Verma recites her poetry.

Kanika is a poet and radio jockey (RJ). She does radio shows on unconventional topics with Frontline Radio (AM 530) in the Greater Toronto-Hamilton Area (GTHA). She published her first English poetry book entitled "Just a Breath Away" in May 2018. It is available on Amazon and is catalogued in Brampton Library, Canada. More than 25 of her Hindi poems have been published in several literary magazines. She has performed her poetry live on diverse platforms. She received Story Mirror’s “Author of the Week” award in April 2020. Her impetus for writing comes from passion for life and observing, understanding, and surviving human relationships.

Kanika is also an English language trainer and IELTS coach. Former faculty at Sheridan College, Texas State University and Texas Christian University, Dr. Verma has also taught Geography and Statistics. With more than 8 years of experience in education, she has received 15 awards and several other recognitions for her research, teaching, and service. She has presented her award-winning research studies at more than 40 professional conferences. She has authored five peer-reviewed journal articles, two peer-reviewed book chapters, and two peer-reviewed e-books.

Frontline Radio

Frontline Radio is one of the best South Asian media outlets in the GTHA region. The main objective behind the radio show is to fill the gap of a quality radio show targeting the South Asian audience. People are cherishing the show, which has become an archetype of quality journalism power packed into one-hour prime time radio show that runs five days a week from Monday to Friday (1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST).

It is broadcasted through AM530 which is a wide range multicultural radio frequency (www.am530.ca). Since 1984, CHLO-AM 530 (Brampton/Toronto/Peel) has provided quality programming to hundreds of thousands of Canadians in a variety of languages. With the aid of radio transistors, smart -phone apps, websites and listen-live on phone facility, the program has a wide range of listenership in the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area (GTHA) and all around the globe via Internet.

The program content of Frontline Radio is delivered in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu and English. Current affairs, issues and events related to economy, politics, music, poetry, art, crime, trucking, transportation, info-tainment, and sports, whether local or international, are blended together and delivered with a unique Canadian and South Asian perspective. Whether something happens around the corner or around the work, Frontline Radio has access to specialists and community leaders who keep the listeners apprised with precise analysis. Our aim is to make serious effort to bring quality journalism.

Politicians and policy makers from all levels of government often appear on the Show to share their viewpoint and perspective. The show also hosts artists such as singers, musicians, poets, and actors to support and promote creativity in the community. Our RJs are passionate about fearless journalism with above and beyond attitude.
