Organizer

Pitikwé Skatepark

Pitikwé is a community-driven, pilot project opening this fall inside Portage Place Mall. The project was developed by the Manitoba Skateboarding Coalition in response to inequities experienced in the skatepark community, and a need for an inclusive indoor park. We aim to address inequity through providing a safe and inclusive space which empowering individuals of diverse backgrounds to engage with skatepark sports. We believe that art plays an important role in fostering an inclusive, diverse and welcoming atmosphere. Artwork at Pitikwé will be informed by themes of inclusion, reconciliation, community and/or 2SLGBTQ+ pride.

Pitikwé has partnered with Artbeat Studio for this event. "Artbeat Studio Inc. runs unique community-based, self-directed, peer-supported programming. It provides social supports, working art studio and gallery space, and mentorship for individuals living with mental illness for the purpose of recovery and empowerment."
