About

Travel back in time to see a turn of the century machine loom in action at the Macgee Cloth Mill in Roberts Creek. These machines revolutionized textile production but there are very few left in production and this is Canada's only such mill in operation.

Pam Magee weaves beautiful blankets using the highest quality fibres in an effort to revive these lost traditions. Her blankets are works of art and seeing them being made is experience not to be missed!

Pam Magee - Macgee Cloth Company

Pam Magee’s journey in textiles began with the discovery of a dilapidated 1936 Dobcross loom in Wales. Once the heart of a thriving textile industry in the UK, the majority of these looms were abandoned in favour of faster more automated models. After transporting the machine to her home in Roberts Creek, Magee painstakingly restored the near century old shuttle loom to full working order. Shortly after, she acquired an 1899 Charlesworth warper and the Macgee Cloth Company was born. It is the only such mill in operation in Canada.

Magee uses only the highest quality fibres in the crafting of her blankets, insisting on full transparency and traceability. The lambswool she uses can be traced to the Gledhill Spinners in Yorkshire. The ringspun cotton is grown through the Texas Organic Cotton Co-op and dyed and spun by Hill Spinning, a family-owned mill and one of only two ring-spinners in North America.

The result? Beautifully crafted selvedge-edge blankets, steeped in tradition and heirlooms for generations to come.
