About

Join your neighbors at the Silton Trail for a night of listening, learning and conversation around Truth & Reconciliation. As a community we will be coming together to share and discuss future learning opportunities and conversations.

Following the conversation we will be screening "The Secret Path" and going on a community walkabout. The film is about 60 minutes long and shares the story of Chanie Wenjack, a twelve year-old boy who died fifty years ago on October 22, 1966, in flight from the Cecilia Jeffrey Indian Residential School near Kenora, Ontario, walking home to the family he was taken from over 400 miles away.

Folks can chose to walk earlier, or stay for the entire screening.

The film follows ten poems written by Gord Downie (Tragically Hip) which has also been drawn and now is a graphic novel. We have purchased several copies of the book and will be sharing them with neighboring schools.

We will light the fire and share as community.
