About

Enjoy Ghanaian flavours on the prairies with these unique traditional shito sauces. They are a go-to staple in every Ghanaian home and can be used with any food as a condiment or dipping sauce.

This is an in-person program. Please, do not attend if you are feeling unwell. This program is located in the meeting room located in the Children's library at our Central library location.

Ghanaian cuisine offers a vibrant blend of flavors, featuring staples like jollof rice, succulent grilled meats, and plantains, often infused with rich spices and aromatic herbs, reflecting the country's diverse cultural influences. Shito sauces are a popular Ghanaian condiment, known for their fiery and complex flavors, crafted from a mix of spicy peppers and aromatic ingredients.

The Global Neighbour Series warmly welcomes individuals of all faiths and backgrounds and is intended to foster an inclusive and respectful environment of cultural sharing. These programs do not seek to proselytize but celebrate different cultures to promote mutual understanding and appreciation among all our neighbors!

Presenter Information: Vinolia Apakoh is the owner of Akwaaba Foods, a local food producer based here in Regina, bringing spicy Ghanaian flavours to the Prairies. Vinolia's sauces use unique and organic ingredients to curate and ensure authentic African quality and taste.
