About

Join artist and filmmaker Sebnem Ozpeta in experiencing her community-engaged artist project "walk. listen. record". The artist invited Richmond residents to participate in sound walk workshops throughout the city's parks and trails over the spring/summer in 2022.

For Culture Days, the artist will be transforming the Performance Hall at the Richmond Cultural Centre into an immersive and interactive video and sound installation. Throughout the day, visitors will be able to interact and view the finished 360° narrative soundscapes created with community participants.

"walk.listen.record" is a community-engaged interactive public art project that invites community members to experience soundscapes and share stories in a 360° environment.

Organizer

Richmond Public Art Program

The Richmond Public Art Program sparks community participation in the building of our public spaces; offers public access to ideas generated by contemporary art; encourages citizens to take pride in public cultural expression; and creates a forum to address relevant themes and issues.

The benefits of public art are numerous. It has the power to energize our public spaces, arouse our thinking and transform the places where we live, work, and play into more welcoming and beautiful environments that invite interaction. Public art can make strangers talk, children ask questions and calm a hurried life. Beyond its enriching personal benefits, public art is a true symbol of a city’s maturity.
