Organizer
South Central Regional Library
South Central Regional Library is located in the south central region of Manitoba and has branches in Altona, Manitou, Miami, Morden, and Winkler.
Our mission is: “To provide access to resources to meet the educational, cultural, informational, and leisure-time needs of citizens of all ages and backgrounds. The library strives to foster a life long interest in reading.”
South Central Regional Library was first established in 1965 as the Morden-Winkler Regional Library, as a result of referendums in both towns. Library branches were officially opened in the two locations on October 20, 1965. In 1976 the Rural Municipality of Stanley joined the system and the library’s name was changed to the South Central Regional Library. A library branch was opened in Altona when the town became a partner in 1988. Rhineland Municipality became partner in 2001 with the Rural Municipality of Thompson joining in 2009 and the Municipality of Pembina joining in 2018
