About
Every community owes an enormous debt of gratitude to volunteers in many fields, including arts and culture. Con Darling stood at the pinnacle of this group, well known to generations of Brockvillians, and always willing to appear at a local event to elicit smiles and laughter.
This statue was made by the students of Thousand Islands Secondary School and was made financially possible by a grant from the City of Brockville and the local Lions Club.
Con Darling was a local gentleman who always dressed up in a clown suit and pushed a chicken in a baby carriage in parades. He even lead the Grey Cup Parade in Toronto one year. This statue is a fitting tribute to a great humanitarian, who knew how to make people laugh and it's thanks to groups like the Lions Club who made the project possible.
