About
The Parol or the Filipino Christmas lantern is a constant fixture in Filipino Christmas celebrations. There's no greater symbol of the Filipino Christmas spirit than the Parol. All through the Christmas season, the star-shaped lanterns can be found hanging outside homes and along the streets and cities and small provincial towns. For Filipinos, making, decorating, and lighting a parol is an expression of shared faith and hope.
For this activity, participants will make the parol. Using bamboo sticks as frame, decorated with colorful cellophane thereafter. Fairy lights is added to make the parol even more festive. Tassels will then be made to hang on the two bottom ends of the star-shaped lantern.
For kids, a smaller version of the Parol will be made with precut materials that can be used as Christmas tree ornament.
This activity can also be a fun family project wherein all members will help in making the parol.
The end product can then be used as decoration during the Christmas season--a memorable and meaningful one!
