Virtual Activity

About

Vishwrang was a three-day virtual celebration of Indian art, literature and cultural activities, and Hindi Writers Guild Canada (HWGC) sought active participation in their literary events. Drama has always been a major tradition and part of Hindi literature and here in this video HWGC is presenting two plays “Ashwatthama” and “Chief Ki Dawat”. These plays, performed by local artists, focus on the creative activity of the Guild.

The first solo play “Ashwatthama” is based on a famous character from “Mahabharat” wherein Ashwatthama pledges to take revenge from Pandavas for killing his father Guru Dronacharya by deceit. It was Guru Dronacharya who taught and trained both Kauravas and Pandavas.

The second play “Chief Ki Dawat” is based on a story of the same name by Bhisham Sahni.

In the past, Hindi Writers Guild Canada has successfully performed famous plays “Andha Yug”, "Rashmirathi", “Mitro Marjani”, “Soor Das”, “Jana Bai” and “Udhar Ka Sukh”.
