Join Art Ex Festival Corporation as they invite guest speaker and national artist Christopher Peet to talk about his career, starting from when he lived in Grand Falls, Newfoundland and learn where his career has taken him. Hear about his art and his inspirations and muses. Ask him questions about his art and career while you see his artworks on display in the Gwendolyn Cooper Art Gallery in the Gordon Pinsent Centre for the Arts. Enjoy our social and learn about this once local artist as you network with other like minded participants. Chris is very receptive to inquiries about his art and experiences and will be participating in our weekend of visual-arts workshops. This event is free and open to the public and takes place on Saturday, September 28th at 7 pm at the Gordon Pinsent Centre for the Arts. Our Main Goal

To create a sustainable visual-art experience within the Exploits Valley that is authentic, rooted in place, and valuable to artists and participants and the region.

Our Mandate

To coordinate the administration, planning, promotion, and implementation of this annual visual arts festival in the Exploits region.

To provide a diverse collection of high quality art experiences that engages all levels of art appreciation and participation (beginners to professionals as well as children to seniors)

To raise the local profile of arts and culture in the Exploits Valley and provide a vital networking opportunity for artists to collaborate with non-arts organizations and the public

To build a broader audience for the arts in the region by promoting awareness of local talent, showcasing art and encouraging residents to take ownership of their cultural heritage

To support and encourage professional development, coordinate funding or corporate sponsorship in accordance with professional fee schedules

To manage volunteers and all internal and external services associated with the Art Ex Festival

To provide support and delivery of services to all participants of the event

To collaborate with host communities (local municipalities), provincial and national activities and associations for increased awareness and promotion of the Art Ex Festival

To evaluate, review and assess outcome measures for the Art Ex Festival on an annual basis
