About
Boots & Beats is a high-energy, community-driven Culture Days event that brings people together through the shared joy of music and dance. This interactive line dance experience invites participants of all ages and abilities to step onto the dance floor and become part of a vibrant cultural celebration.
Led by award-winning choreographer and instructor Joan Minnery, alongside a dynamic team of dancers, the evening will feature guided line dance instruction, live DJ music, and engaging group participation. Designed to be fully inclusive and welcoming, no prior dance experience is required—making this event an accessible entry point for individuals who may not typically engage in arts and culture programming.
At its core, Boots & Beats highlights line dancing as a living cultural tradition. Rooted in folk and country heritage, line dancing has evolved into a widely embraced social dance form that connects people across generations and backgrounds. This event transforms that tradition into an interactive experience, where participants are not just spectators, but active contributors. Through movement, rhythm, and shared energy, attendees will experience how dance fosters storytelling, connection, and a strong sense of community identity.
Intentionally hosted in a rural setting, Boots & Beats supports the Culture Days mission of expanding access to high-quality arts programming beyond urban centres. By bringing this experience to Burford, the event strengthens local community bonds while encouraging meaningful cultural participation.
Joan Minnery brings extensive experience in delivering engaging, large-scale community arts events. This marks her third Culture Days initiative, building on the success of previous music-focused festivals. In 2026, this offering expands to emphasize dance as a participatory art form, deepening audience engagement through hands-on experience.
This event is offered for pay what you can donation, helping to keep arts programming accessible while supporting local community initiatives.
Presented by Joan Minnery Enterprises and Blessed Sacrament Parish Hall.
Boots & Beats is more than a dance event—it is a celebration of culture in motion. It invites the community to connect, learn, and celebrate together, creating an atmosphere where music and movement become a shared language that unites and uplifts.
