About

The Library is hosting a one-day Alberta cultural day festival on September 28, 2019. We started celebrating the event in 2017 and because of it’s overwhelming response in both the years, the library has decided to celebrate it again with the support of its partners and the Town of Irricana.

The library is planning to host the following competitions for the event to showcase the talents of the local artists.

Story/Essay writing competition:

Group 1 (Age 8 – 12)

Group 2 (Age 13 – 18)

Group 3 (Adult)

Sculpture-making competition

Group 1 (Adult)

Group 2 (Teen)

Painting competition

Group 1A (Adult)

Group 1B (Adult)

Group 2 (Teen)

Group 3 (Up to 12 years)

Fancy dress (Go as you like) competition

Group 1 (Adult)

Group 2 (Teen)

Group 3 (Age 6 – 12)

Group 4 (Age 0 – 5)

Handicraft competition

The library is also displaying arts and crafts made by the local artist for the week of the cultural day. following are some of the activities the library is hosting that day:

1. Mural walk led by library staff who would explain the history.

2. Arranging giant games for kids

3. "Know your community": Information regarding ancestry and local history

4. Free food, coffee, tea, and pops.

Irricana Public Library

Our main purpose is but not limited to provide library services to residents of Irricana (1,216) and the surrounding rural population (1,087). We are a charitable organization dedicated to enriching lives and building community and the goal is to let the community work together as a team to create a piece of history for our community and celebrate community's cultural diversity. We support and build literacy, create community connections and provide cultural experiences in our community which goes toward making our community stronger, healthier and more resilient. We offer movie nights, book clubs, art & craft project for various age groups, card making courses, coloring groups, altered book projects and many more. Our Wednesday "Adult Art Night" attracts a lot of people year-round.
